Home on Mondays: Whirlwind Vent Installation on Our Roof

Last week I shared about installing vents for our roof. This was a prerequisite to what we were aiming forth -- a whirlwind ventilator for our roof. I honestly thought it would look tacky since whirlwind ventilators are normally used in factories. I saw some houses in our area though that had it and asked Architect Wansi a few months ago about it. He said that there are smaller ones for houses.

A few weeks ago I asked Architect Wansi if we could prioritize resolving the heat issue of our home. With the amihan winds gone, the heat was really affecting me. His team finished installing the roof underside vent last week and early this week the whirlwind ventilator team did their installation.

The installation was done in less than two hours. I was expecting it to be noisy, but they were unobtrusive. They also made them promise that the installation won't cause the roof to drip in case it rains. They said that's the top concern of their clients and they explained more about how they installed the vent. They also kindly took photos of the installation.

Since my kryptonite is heat, I immediately felt the difference in the temperature. There's an area outside of our bedroom that feels like an oven. The temp inside our house improved a lot. The vents and whirlwind ventilator helps to release the hot air inside the house. Cross ventilation windows/areas don't exist in our house. It is a similar issue to my Mom's home.  The heat was also lowered with the help of vents.

I think we can still cool down the living room a bit. We are still debating whether we should install a floor standing airconditioner (very expensive and we don't have the budget for it right now) or if we could make do with air cooling fans. We'll observe for now and decide later on what to do. The whirlwind ventilator so far has helped cool down our home.
