Got Flu Vaccination

It's the time of the year to get our flu vaccination. We just went to Watsons after checking it's available today. We also went to the same branch previously.

Just check the Watsons vaccination page and schedule or you can just drop by the branch nearest you to ask when it will be available. The threw of us finished quickly and I didn't feel a thing. It's been 4 hours and I'm now feeling a bit feverish, hehe. Oh well, will just rest.

Clot Scare

It's been an unproductive week for me. We went out last Monday to check-out something. The vaccination site though on my left arm was still painful and felt warm. It was strange since it's been a week since I was vaccinated. I had two vaccinations in the past two weeks. First one was for flu and the second one was anti tetanus and diphtheria (to also prevent pertussis which is hard to treat according to my doctor). My infectious disease doctor advised to get vaccinated since I've been hospitalized twice in the past 8 months. I'm still due to get the pneumonia and shingles vaxx.

Anyway, I felt really bad on Tuesday. I slept most of the day since my whole body hurts. I also felt very lightheaded on Wednesday. I started having a terrible headache by Wednesday evening. I took the medication my neurologist gave me for migraine. It worked, but I still had a nagging headache until today. I also had upper back pain on and off since yesterday.

The upper back pain concerned me a lot since it's the same area that hurt when I had my last PE* in 2021. The pain was still there when I woke up. Sweetie cancelled by pulmo rehab appointment since I didn't feel well. I kept telling myself not to worry too much since it may just be pain from the scars in my lungs. My oxygen saturation is also normal. I still took it slow today and used my collection of pain ointments/oils. I read up about Boostrix and what I went through are its side effects. It was probably weirder for me because I'm immuno-compromised.

I watched a movie on Netflix with Miggy and I felt a bit better by early evening. I also watered the plants and played with the cats. The kitties surrounded me and they helped to relax me. I feel better now and will report what happened to my doctor since I'm still due to get two more vaccinations. Maybe we need to space it out since my body takes longer to recover.

First Mall Adventure Since We Got Home

I'm still weathering through the effects of the booster shot. I've ticked off all the possible effects. I'm just thinking it's really working for me and my body will be battle ready after two weeks. Missing Mom though since I haven't been able to VC with her.

Since the vaccination center was located at Megamall, we were able to break our mall fast, LOL. We've been avoiding crowded places so that meant no trips to the mall.

We arrived an hour before the mall opened. It felt surreal to be in a mall. I was honestly dazed and had to hold onto Miggy/Sweetie the whole time. I've been having spatial issues since I had my second PE and I get cross eyed when there are many people walking around. The will to go around was strong, so I just walked slowly.

After getting vaccinated, we had breakfast at CBTL. It was a rare treat to dine out with the boys. After that we got more food! We got takeaway at Racks since it's been years since we dined there. It's one of our favorite goto places with our parents.

Of course, we just had to visit one of the shops. We went to Old Navy. They had really good discounts, so we ended up getting some shirts. The biggest budol of the day though was at Mercury Drug. I got one quarter worth of meds. The bill didn't look pretty.

I probably ran on adrenaline the whole time we were out. I was still feeling perky until about 4 in the afternoon, then the booster shot took over my body. A lot of friends said it takes about three days before you get well. I guess I should reschedule some of my appointments this week since getting better is taking longer than expected.

Happy Monday everyone!

Not Fun

It hit me with an uppercut after 8 hours and it brought me down since then. And I thought I'd weather through the booster shot with no issues just like Mom.

Sweetie's been taking care of me. He made sure I kept hydrated and warm. I probably kept him up because I was shivering all night and had a terrible non stop headache. I was scared I'd clot again because I started cramping ugh.

I told myself though that my body was armoring itself to battle the virus in case I get it. The fever finally broke after my ASAP nap and hope it doesn't come back. Sweetie said I'm still a bit warm, but I look much better now than last night (I must've turned green again lol).

Going to rest for now and will just blog about our mall adventure tomorrow. Happy Sunday everyone.

The Unvaccinated

My Mom made sure I completed all the required vaccinations. I remember those times Ninang Lumen, my pedia, would bribe me with a lollipop everytime I got vaccinated. I was lucky also because I got my Mom's immunities to common illnesses like chickenpox and measles. When I became a Mom I made sure also to complete Miggy's vaccinations.

They're starting to roll out new policies here. They're giving more benefits for those who are vaccinated. I wonder what will happen to people like me. I have a medical issue that would put me at risk if I get vaccinated. My vascular doctor identified me as one of those who can't be vaccinated. I could potentially die if I took the risk.

Even if my doctor gives me a certificate I could carry I'd always be at risk. Sweetie and I were talking about how we're going to manage it. We'll have to take more precautions. This means I won't be enjoying any of the usual things I do like going to the mall or doing groceries. Honestly I don't want to live in fear, but I'm like a magnet to viruses.

It's disenheartening, but this is the reality I'm facing right now. How does one live the life of a hermit?

Day 8 Minimalism Challenge, Journal for 20 minutes. I don't keep a journal anymore because my blog serves that purpose. Sometimes though when I feel like writing something which I want to keep to myself I write it on Google Docs or Google Keep. I have a planner where I try to keep track of daily milestones. I used to stick flight stickers on it. Now I just stick food delivery stickers on it. Since there's not much outdoor activity for me, I also keep a quilting journal. It's where I track completed projects. I do that so I could see the progress of my quilting hobby :)

Am I Getting Vaccinated?

Sweetie got his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination today. Hooray! He's so far okay. He said his arm just feels a bit heavy. To prepare for this day I had him check several things with his doctors. They have a family history of DVT and he had knee surgery two years ago. I'm glad his doctors checked if it was safe for him to get vaccinated.

As for me, my doctors are still on the fence about me getting vaccinated. I had to pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in the lungs) and the cause is still unknown. They have been trying to figure it out since 2018 and we have no clear answers yet. I thought the tests I did in the past few weeks would solve the mystery, but not just yet.

Since my anatomy is so different I've been reading a lot about how the vaccine affects people who have issues similar to me. Two issues I come across often is clotting and anaphylaxis. I have asthma and it's oftentimes triggered by allergies (bad AQI and some types of food). So it's just really complicated for me now.

I've just been staying home. I only go out when I have an appointment with my doctor. I'm experiencing cabin fever already since I've had to stay home even before the stricter measures were rolled out. It's been a good thing because I've been able to avoid hotspots. So it's up in the air for me now until my doctors figure things out.

If you have a loved one with medical issues, be sure to check first with their doctor if they should get the vaccination.
