I bet you have an account on Gtalk, Chikka, YM, Skype, AOL, MSN and you also access Meebo, ILoveIM or Trillian in the office. I'm right, right?
I was in college the first time encountered chatting online. In school we were all given email addresses (composed of our ID numbers) and we used that as well to log on to ICQ. I was thrilled to talk with classmates electronically (I'd be at the SPS building and they'd be in the library) and sometimes I'd giggle when I see my crush online. Eventually things progressed and we had YM, Chikka, then Gtalk and now there's even the Philippines Chat Room, a chat community.
So, are ya addicted to chatting? I can't imagine my life now without this platform. I have been using it for more than 10 years now and I could say that it has been useful for me both in my personal and professional life. I can just imagine my phone bill skyrocket if instant messenging wasn't invented. Gulp!
What I'm quite curious about now actually is hearing success stories about finding love online. My seatmate in the plane when I was on my way to San Francisco last year actually met and fell in love with his wife (a Filipina) online. I met up with them last April when he came here to marry her. Imagine that.
Come on now... share me some stories. I need something to make me kilig.
I started writing when I was 8. My mom got me a journal where I could rant (prob so I won't be an annoying brat). I stopped writing for 8 years until the pen and then later on the keyboard called on me again. I blog because I like writing and that's just about it. Hope you get inspired though... Bite the apple!
ICQ! I miss those days, hehe. In fact , my ICQ account remains to be active, hehe, and I'm one of those that made it to the 7-digit numbers!
ReplyDeleteLove online? I met my man who eventually became my partner back in 2000 via Gay.com. We exchanged messages, emails (can anyone say EdsaMail?) and eventually became involved by July 2001.
We just celebrated our 6th anniversary this year. =D

ReplyDeleteI still find it tacky to admit to most people who ask about how my guy and i met. I dunno, it must be that whole stigma about online relationships, that people must be THAT desperate to resort to looking for love online. I clinch and pause everytime they ask, and all I can do is smile, really.
ReplyDeleteI have to say I'm not that comfortable admitting that I met my Swedish boyfriend through my blog, he was a silent voyeur to my life for months, had the guts to message me on Skype eventually, and we've been talking everyday for 8 months until he finally came over to see me last April for a two-month stay.
Meeting wasn't a problem at all, we acted like we've been seeing everyday for the last 8 months. Skype is heaven-sent--I can't imagine my probable phone bill!
As for the relationship, well, as soon as he left, it was back to reality. It's not a question if we're still together or not; there's no doubt about that now. I think I met my soulmate. It's a matter of how to work it out across the continents. And no, I don't think I'm gonna use a fiancee visa soon. He's not the marrying type. Ack.

My 78-year old aunt was telling me last night, we're in a totally different era now and we just gotta do whatever makes us happy. Hi, Ate Aileen! Well, I just got to share that me and my boyfriend too met online. Yes, it's the same boyfriend as the one I brought to the choir before.:) Anyway, before I was into online games and.. he was too! So there we met, and the weird thing was, we played in the area and we never crossed paths in real life until then!
