Manila's Twitter Elite

I was minding my own business and going through some twits when I saw Budjette's twit about "Manila's Twitter Elite".

And guess who's number 1?

ME.

I never thought of myself as elite. So I just kinda giggled when I saw the page with the grades (my grade is 98.7). 

Now I feel conscious about what I twit about... Chocnut anyone?

Twitter Unplugged

I was offline most of the weekend and to summarize my weekend this is what I twitted -

the weekend. sm science and discovery center. lego mindstorms. indiana jones. burger king. kopi roti. french baker. and a fever.

I was stuck in bed the whole day on Sunday and I was extremely bored so I went online to check out what was happening in cyberworld and lo and behold Twitter was down! Sad face.

I don't know how many times I twit in a day, but these are things I missed when it was down and not available on Gtalk:

1. I could not do a quick rant.
2. I cannot share what I was eating.
3. I could not plug my new blog posts.
4. I could not bug other twitterers and see who's online.
5. I use twitter as well as a means to discover new reads.

Oh well, I do have a Jaiku account and FriendFeed. I love Twitter, but I hope they'll become stable soon.

The Top Ten Rants on Twitter

I follow a huge number of people on my Twitter account. I don't know how that happened, I guess it's because everytime someone's adds me up I take a peek if he/she is interesting enough to follow. And now that list has grown to more than 200 Twitterers from all over the world. Gulp!

A lot of things happen on Twitter. Some people post updates about their blog, what they're eating, reading, watching or listening to, but I noticed a lot of people voice out their rants on Twitter (including me at least once a day) and here are the top ten rants I see on Twitter:

1. Being bored
2. Experiencing errors on apps/blog platforms and websites
3. Terrible service at a restaurant
4. Airline misfortunes
5. No lovelife
6. And the opposite, lovelife problems
7. Being stalked
8. Spam!
9. Experiencing plagiarism

and the most popular rant of all

10. Awful or no internet connection

Eeeps! I hope I'm keeping them entertained coz there are things I twit about that wouldn't be found here on my blog. If ya know what I mean... wink wink.

5 Reasons Why I Twitter

It's been more than a week and for some reason "twittering" is still a discussion point among friends. Abe is still adamant about not using Twitter and has posted his 5 reasons (this post was actually born out of our discussion last night) and Ely, who uses Twitter, is currently looking into "the language of Twitter" ergo "reading between the lines".

So, why do I Twitter? This is what I've been telling Abe since last week.

(1) When you work at home, you have no one to bug. So it's my way of bugging people, unobtrusively of course. In short, nagpaparamdam lang po.

(2) Sometimes you just want to record mundane things like eating ice cream, drinking coffee... I was actually surprised several people went off to eat merienda because I posted I was eating yummy pistaccio ice cream.

(3) Twitter reminds me that there is a bigger picture and the world is moving as I sit here at home pounding on the keyboard.

(4) Abe and Ely told me Twitter opens one up for stalking. Well, that depends on what you Twitter about.

And finally,

(5) I get traffic from my Twitter!

Of course, one has to Twitter responsibly that's why I just Twitter about really mundane things like going out to play badminton, eating ice cream, nothing heavy. And now I can just imagine Abe saying "What for?" Eh gusto ko eh, bakit ba. LOL.

And Ely, you'll definitely have a hard time reading between the lines of my twittering. LOL.
