Optimistic October

Oh boy, I just realized how busy this month is going to be. I promptly fell asleep after our hospital visit yesterday. I got exhausted after my doctor''s nurse called me twice to tell me I have a vitamin D deficiency. Well, that's probably one reason why I get so exhausted haha. I was told to drink a supplement asap!

Immediately ordered some via Amazon and drank it when it was delivered. Felt a bit weird for a few minutes, but instantly experienced a shot of sunshine. Vitamin D3 is apparently known as the sunshine vitamin! I'm optimistic that this will help me get through this busy month.

Good thing most of the tasks I need to do can be done at home. That includes completing an inventory of our things, donating things we don't need and the ginormous task of packing up our home. On top of this I need to finish sorting out my health. I also need to finish all the quilt projects. And not to forget, get my second vaccination dose. Oh and I need to take advantage of the internet here and finish uploading my photos! Whew! No time for afternoon naps!

I'm really grateful that I'm back to my old self. The body though is weary, as much as I want to do more I have to be on point about my health. I told Sweetie yesterday, I hope I won't have to go visit a hospital or a doctor for a long time when I get home (except to get a reseta for my meds).

Anyway, gotta go, I feel like I need to burn off the energy I got from taking vitamins! I feel like doing cartwheels hahaha.

Happy weekend everyone! Stay home and keep safe!

Hello Outside World

Things have eased up a bit here in Singapore, I go out only when it's really needed. My doctor advised me that wearing a mask for prolonged periods would be detrimental for me. I had to go out this weekend because I felt I needed new eyeglasses. So we headed to the mall today. We went early to avoid the crowds.

We went to Vivo City and oh my it looked like everyone planned to go to the mall today! I realized that before the pandemic happened I just took a lot of things for granted. I thought things would remain the same. Now the ordinary things before the pandemic, like eating lunch at a restaurant now feel more special. It reminded me when I was a child, our family did not eat out often. We only ate out when we were attending a birthday celebration (usually Tito Ben's).

Going to the mall also became ordinary for me especially since we lived across a mall for four years. The excitement of going to the mall anytime I wanted wore off on me. I used to like window shopping. Checking out shiny new things. Typhoon Ondoy and living in smaller homes taught me though that you don't need a lot of things. Today, Aftera just one shop we already got tired and decided to eat lunch first. We were both so excited since we rarely eat out now.

After lunch we rushed through our errands. My eye check-up took awhile, but luckily I was the only customer in the shop. I think since there wasn't anyone well they gave me extra special attention (haha). My eyeglasses though will only be available in two weeks. My new frame is going to look quite different, it's quite quirky.

We also picked up some things to send back home. Hopefully it will get there in time for Christmas. I hope I could send the box before month end. I super miss my Miggy and Mom. I thought I could be home more often this year, but I guess that's not going to happen anytime soon. I was hoping we could at least be complete this Christmas. I cannot imagine celebrating Christmas without Miggy and my Mom. And that makes me really sad.

The outside world will always just be there. At this point it's a bit daunting for me to go out and deal with so many people. This year has changed so many things. I now spend majority of my time at home. If there's anything I need I normally just order it online. I had a hard time adjusting to this new normal, but now I'm used to it.

Well, hello outside world. My perspective have definitely changed in the last couple of months. I'm not sure if it's going to go back to what it was before. Probably not. Let's just keep going on and live life the best way we can.

Left My Wallet at Home! Gaah!

Half-way to the hospital for my follow-up check-up I realized I left my wallet at home. I had taken it out of my bag last weekend and forgot to return it inside my bag. I realized I left it because I was wondering why my bag seemed spacious. I wasn't worried I won't get back home, I was annoyed I wouldn't be able to get some stuff at the grocery.

I didn't want to be late for my appointment so I just went to see my doctor. He was happy with my progress. I told his nurse I hope I didn't need to pay for anything since I left my wallet at home. She said not to worry since the fees and medication were going to be charged to insurance. Whew!

Just me and Mr. Cat today.

I really wanted to buy Sweetie some coffee buns. His favorite is from a bakery at the Bugis MRT Station. Luckily my coin purse was in my bag. I walked past the bakery to check the price and then went to the side to count my money. I managed to buy 4 coffee buns and skipped buying my favorite bun.

I was surprised to see that the MRT entrance into Bugis Junction is already open. I stopped in front of Cold Storage to just look longingly at what I wanted to buy (new flowers). I passed by Toastbox and saw they had my favorite bread. I hoped I had enough coins to pay for it. Luckily I did.

While waiting for my doctor I checked my bag if I had any money in the bag. I had my coin purse, but nothing else. I realized I probably had cash in my MRT card, in apps on my phone and there's Paylah. I have colleagues who go out without any cash (now I remember my manager owes me $20 since March). In Singapore you can go out and just have your money tied to apps or your cards, no need to bring cash. I follow a budget so as much as possible I don't use my credit card because spending tends to pile up if you do.

Before I went home I discovered my Starbucks app had some money in it. Of course, I got some dessert for me and Sweetie. I usually take a taxi and pay cash to help uncle taxi drivers. Today I had to take Grab going home since I didn't have enough money on me. Maybe I'll just buy the grocery items I need tomorrow after physiotherapy.

Going out without my wallet wasn't a disaster. I'm happy I was able to buy coffee buns for Sweetie. I just need to make sure I don't forget it again tomorrow!

A Day in My Life: What I Do on Saturdays

Saturdays are for sleeping in! Do you agree? We usually end up staying up late on Fridays so normally when I wake up Sweetie's busy doing something already. He was playing Pokemon Go already when I woke up and excitedly told me that the Pokemon Go Fest event had a lot of surprises for trainers. I ended up signing up for it too.

Got some breakfast and thought I'd film how my day goes today. Here's how it went --

Our weekends this year drastically changed because of the pandemic. I super miss those weekends when we can go to Sentosa or our favorite places. My weekends are now for learning new things. I've become a full-fledged tita the last few months since I started my garden. I've been baking every week too. I don't think things will go back to normal again soon.

What about you? What do you do on weekends?
