The Typewriter

My Mom used to have the exact same typewriter when I was a kid and I think I was just about ten when she started to teach me how to type properly. I breezed through typing class in high school and college because I learned how to type early.
I was so enamoured with the typewriter, I used to put it beside me when I slept. Aside from writing mundane stuff I remember typing up song lyrics too. Unfortunately the book I made was destroyed during Typhoon Ondoy.
My son has never experienced using this old school device. Too bad he won't be able to feel getting his fingers stuck in between keys.

  1. My parents' office had the same typewriter. When I was in Kindergarten/grade school I loved visiting my parents at work because I got to play with it. Felt so good to type stuff out on it because it just felt so...analog. Haha.

  3. Now that you're in the topic of old things, I remember you used to spearhead those parties at SM hypermart at the Mall of Asia, the Taste Asia events. I miss the old days when all we cared about was enjoying each other's company and just laughing the night away. It's different now, bloggers have become more polarized, especially the new ones. Perhaps you could start something that will bring us all together in one roof. Just like the old days.

  4. there is something about typewriters that computers/laptops can never replace -- they have a certain anachronistic charm :)

  5. We also had the same typewriter when I was in high school. I love the sound when our registrar used it. I hope I could still make my first book using an old school typewriter. :) thanks for sharing dear! God bless!

  6. Hi Aileen! I discovered your blog from Che of My Sweet Nothings.

Before I experienced the comforts of a laptop and desktop, I also lived with the same typewriter in my Elementary to early High School years. At that time, my parents never had the resources to finance a desktop and printer. I settled for the noisy and often painful keys of my Olympia too. No spell and grammar checks, no undo function. :D

There's really something special about typewriters. :)

    Have a great day!
