Wheelchair Lakwatsa

I've been cooped up at home and have been missing going to Booksale. The boys agreed since they also wanted to visit Booksale.

We got lucky since it stopped raining by lunch time. It was my first time to be wheeled around the mall. We didn't have a good experience at One Bonifacio, the elevator wasn't aligned with the floor. The wheel of my wheelchair kept getting stuck. We had an easier time at SM Bicutan for both their older and newer elevators. 

We limited our outing to just eating lunch and going to Booksale. I didn't want the boys to have a hard time maneuvering me around. It was a weekday, so the mall crowd was manageable. 

I wanted to avoid using the toilet, but I drank a lot. French Bakery has a toilet for customers. We passed by to buy monay, but ended up get a slice of cake because of my bladder, haha. With my business done, we were able to check out the newly opened Pepper Lunch and got some ice cream from Dairy Queen. 

It was a good day to hang out in the mall. We were able to have a good meal and visit Booksale. I insisted on it so I can move around more in preparation for some tests I need to do. It's annoying to be semi-immobile and I can't wait to be back to my normal state.

Brunch at Nono's

We used to avoid dining at Nono's because it's quite expensive! We relented when it opened a branch nearby. After trying it we've made it a point to dine there once in awhile. 

The announcement about EDSA's new regulations, the rising health issues and heavy traffic had us re-programming our trips to BGC/Makati. We now plan to spend the least amount of time when we need to go to BGC/Makati. So, we ended up having brunch at Nono's the other day.

I like the food at Nono's and I try to order a different dish everytime we go. It's just frustrating that my first choice is always unavailable! I ended up ordering the waffle eggs Benedict. Oh my! It was huge! The waffle was completely covered with ham, eggs and hollandaise sauce. Of course, weird lil me ate it with ketchup, hehe.

Sweetie got a pulled pork sandwich and it was huge too! He said he liked it. Miggy got his usual chicken (I forgot to take a photo, haha). We were all properly full after the meal and then left for our appointment.

Our plan to eat nearby worked. We were able to avoid heavy traffic. Luckily, we didn't wait long to see the doctor and was in and out of the hospital in an hour. We went back towards home immediately to avoid traffic and just had a stopover to buy meds. 

It's been a long week! Happy long weekend everyone!

Tried "Onezo" at SM Bicutan

There's a number of new cafes and milk tea places at SM Bicutan. Onezo, located at the top level of building B across the food court, opened a few months ago. 

We finally tried it today. I got Okinawa milk tea, Miggy got panda milk tea and Sweetie got his usual oolong tea. I usually get less sugar for my milk tea, but the order taker said, "Di pwede yan". She seemed to be going through something so I just ordered and left the boys to finish their order and pay. I already had a bad experience at Mercury Drug and didn't need the additional stress, so I sat down to wait.

We got our drinks for takeaway since we had to go home to water the plants. Anyway, I found the Okinawa milk tea too sweet after I took a sip on the way home. I added more ice to water it down. Miggy said the sago was soft and the MT was okay. Sweetie's oolong tea was just okay too. 

I guess we'll be sticking to our usual.

Mary Grace Now Open at SM Bicutan

One of our favorite places to eat is Mary Grace. It's where we eat whenever I have a check-up and we've dined at their other branches as well. So, we were happy to see it finally open a branch nearby.

We were on the fence where to eat brunch, but when we saw Mary Grace open we immediately decided to eat there. The branch looked very inviting. It felt like we were dining at someones home.

The staff were very kind and efficient similar to their other branches. I got the tapa, Miggy got tocino and Sweetie got a special plate. I especially liked the mango pickle this time (it came with the tapa). It wasn't as sour compared to other branches. Ah, a perfect meal.

We were so full so we skipped dessert. We just got a mini cake for takeaway before we went home. Tried the black velvet cake. It's so good! I had a reaction though. It probably has an ingredient that doesn't go well with my meds. Next time we'll ask if they add any alcohol to their cakes.

Mary Grace at SM Bicutan is open during mall hours (10am to9pm).

Brunch

We were concerned about the announcement that we won't have electricity yesterday morning. We woke up early so we could leave in case we didn't have electricity. Neighbors complained when it didn't go off as scheduled. I told them Meralco must have pranked us, haha 

Since we were ready to go out, we decided to just have brunch at the nearby mall. Miggy wasn't up for it, so it was just Sweetie and me. I got some tapa. It was made more interesting by the pinakurat vinegar. 

Sweetie surprisingly ordered bacon and eggs! He donated some bacon to me (that's true love!).

We walked around to burn off what we ate. We wondered why there was so many people on a weekday. We didn't know it was a holiday (sorry na). We went home after picking up a couple of books at Booksale and a replacement memory card for one of our cams. 

I'm now recharged to sort again!

Checked Out What's New at SM Bicutan

I took a break this week from visiting the hospital for tests and doctor appointments. It get's tiring and I just wanted to stay home, do some sewing, tend to my plants and play with the cats.We went out today for some errands (adulting stuff). We also went to SM Bicutan to get a couple of things. 

We realized we have not visited the Sky Garden/Food Hall. It opened a month ago. It was a good time to visit since it's a weekday and the holiday crowd is gone. From the basement, we went straight to the third floor through the lift. Everything was bright and sunny when we alighted. The Food Hall was appropriately sized, probably easily filled-up during meal times and weekends. It had a number of food stalls. 

We decided to have a snack. I tried the burger at Burger Assembly. And Sweetie got some food from Tex Mex. It was filling and we liked the spacious, new hangout area. The outdoor seating area looked nice, but it was still quite sunny when we went. It would be interesting to witness the acoustic nights they've been promoting. 

I didn't get to enjoy my meal too much, since I had to find a couple of things on my photo baul for another adulting task. I had to wolf down my burger, since it was getting late. After eating we went to the other building for our home needs list. Wanted to get home immediately, but we got caught in DS traffic. Well, we managed to get half of what's on our list. Will try again another day, hehe.

Paik's Coffee Now Open!

There's an explosion of new coffee shops in our vicinity and that's a good thing because there's so many options. Paik's Coffee opened in early October (just last week!). We were so full last week when we were in SM Bicutan, so we just checked out the menu.

I remember seeing several branches of Paik's Coffee in South Korea. With it's yellow and blue logo it's hard to miss. I honestly don't remember if I tried it during my trips. Anyway, I'm glad it opened a branch nearby.

We went again today to check out the menu. They mostly have coffee based beverages, iced/hot, smoothies and ice cream! You can also order pastries to go with it. Sweetie tried the coffee and he said it's similar to coffee in Malaysia/Singapore. I have my eye on the coffee ice cream. I'll try it next time we go. For the meantime, I'm enjoying the Choco chip cookie.
