Throwback Thursday: My 1983 Pencil Box

My Mom really kept things that were precious to me when I was a child. A few months ago I found the pencil box I used when I was a second grader.

I super loved it because it had extra compartments. Back then you were considered "rich" and special when your pencil case had a gazillion compartments. Mine only had 3, but I was ecstatic about it.

It wasn't the best case in my class, but I was happy with it. I used it for years until I got a nice tin pencil box from Tito Mon and Tita Lydia. I also used that for years.

I kept the pencil box for a few months more. It's nostalgic and gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling. I finally gave it up last week during our decluttering session. I just took photos and made this blog post to preserve the happy memories I had with it.

Mega Throwback! Prep School Days

I've been slowly finding old photos and negatives the past few months and much, more slowly scanning them. I found a bunch of smaller negatives (I think 110 size?) and tried to see if I could still retrieve the photos. One set were Christmas family reunion photos and with it were some photos from preparatory school.

Bangs forever!

I only realized how old I was when I saw a photo with my teacher, Mrs. Alfaro. Yes, I still remember her name! She was the nicest and most caring teacher a 5-year old could have. I probably remember her because I got very sick once (tonsillitis!) and she took care of me.

Anyway, the photos are I think from a field day/parents day. We wore a Filipiniana costume and performed at the St. Cecilia's Hall. I was obviously at the back (I had bad coordination even back then!). Here are more photos with my classmates! (Please holler if you're part of it!).

I know the quality of the photos aren't good, but hey, you can still recognize me since I was very fair skinned! Haha.

Throwback Thursday: More Treasures!

I have been sorting stuff again the past few days and I was thrilled to find more things from my childhood and school days. Long forgotten items, but precious nonetheless.

I found a few of my "artworks" from sixth grade. It's pretty ugly since I don't read know how to draw. I did find a "Little Women" project I did in 6th grade. It's a comic strip of a chapter. I got an Outstanding grade for it and probably why I kept it (haha).

I also found precious letters my classmates sent me. Back then we would communicate via snail mail during summer. I was curious and read one. It was a letter from my grade school best friend. She was updating me about their family's plans to migrate to the US and how annoyed she was with her sister because she refused to play "pretend bus" with her. Ahh, how simple life was back then!

I didn't find any stuff from high school in this haul, but found copies of my college and masteral thesis, haha.

I can't imagine how I wrote those back then (they're both very thick!). I burned a lot of eyebrows writing those papers. That's also probably why I've degerated now to writing daily vlogs about mundane stuff, haha. I'll probably have a kick out of reading old posts in the future.
