A few months ago I blogged that I wasn’t watching TV anymore and that I was just getting most of my entertainment online, but since I wanted to be “offline” in the evenings so I could do other things I found myself watching TV again. One of the shows that I managed to watch from start to finish was Pinoy Dream Academy (okay, okay and some telenovelas Jerome).
I managed to watch PDA season 1 as well and at the beginning of PDA season 2 I thought that the PDA scholars from season 1 had more oomph and talent, but I had taken a liking for Bugoy early on. I just had that gut feel that he was really going to do well and hopefully become THE Dream Winner.
Much to my disappointment though that he only finished second. But as Sweetie said in his post, "Text votes really don't measure who's best. They measure how many people can vote for the scholars. It doesn't even equate to a one is to one ratio. One person could vote for 1,000 times for a single scholar as long as that person had the load to pay for each SMS message."
Yes! I agree with Bugoy when he said, “Kahit di ako nanalo sa puso ko ako pa rin ang Dream Big Winner!”
From being a farmer’s son to working as a sanitation worker in a school in Bicol, Bugoy has definitely come a long way. One other reason why I was rooting for him is because he is Bicolano! And Bicolanos rock! (I’m sure my dear US and Australia born Bicolano friends are nodding their head now). Bicol, after all, seems to have been a forgotten region because it’s poor and it’s gone through one disaster after another.
BUT!
Bicol has much talent too! Well known stars such as Elizabeth Oropesa, the greatest president we never had, Raul Roco, and known xxx Francisco Garchitorena etc. hailed from Bicol. And now we have Bugoy!
Congratulations Bugoy! Uragon ka! (And I mean it in the Bicolano-lambing way). Hope to meet you someday (so I can add you up in my wall of the famous).
You might want to check out the PDA Season 2 Scholars Sing Cayabyab (I absolutely love Bugoy's song).
I started writing when I was 8. My mom got me a journal where I could rant (prob so I won't be an annoying brat). I stopped writing for 8 years until the pen and then later on the keyboard called on me again. I blog because I like writing and that's just about it. Hope you get inspired though... Bite the apple!

Eraserheads Reunion Concert

I've been a fan of the Eraserheads since college, but I never did get the privilege of seeing them live in concert during the height of their popularity. Imagine me hyperventilating in the board room when Ely Buendia showed up during a pow-wow to do a sample of the jingle of a brand I used to handle. I was literally jumping in my seat even before he started to sing the jingle. I had to contain myself though since it was a meeting. That surprise of the ad agency was the turn-key of the campaign. Check out how that fared here.
Fast-forward to 2008, rumors of an Eraserheads reunion have been floating around for years and I'm probably one of the millions of fans of the E-heads who wished for it. I was ecstatic when it was finally announced and my first worry back then was it coincided with the PBA! Nooooo! Good thing the organizers moved it to September 21 (be there!).I must say that the reunion felt surreal. I was teary eyed when Ely started to sing since I never thought it possible that I would be able to watch them together. The first set went well and I was very happy that two of my favorite E-heads songs was played ("Fruitcake" and "Huwag Mong Itanong"), it was really a shock though when Ely's sister announced that they were cutting the concert short since Ely was rushed to the hospital. A short prayer was said and everyone then left the venue quietly. I hope and pray that Ely gets well soon.
Here a video blog about the concert, it has snippets from all the songs (save for one) and the announcement:
Thank you Sweetie for working hard to get us to watch the concert.

1st OPM Songhits Music Awards
Songhits is what probably pushed me to love OPM (original pilipino music). We always had those when I was a kid and I remember saving some of my allowance to buy a copy. It was the only way to get lyrics of your favorite song (unless you buy the tape or write it down yourself). Remember? Well, if you're a child of the 80s you'd know what I mean.

I've been tagging along with Sweetie in the music events he's been attending and I couldn't help but be awed when we attended the 1st OPM Songhits Music Awards. There were music artists all over the place - from MYMP to Cueshe to Rivermaya, Ely Buendia and many others. I just got extremely shy to have a photo taken with them, hehehe.
Anyway, Sweetie did a full coverage of the event, check out Titikpilipino.com's photo gallery and the list of winners. I was there as a fan and I forgot to take any notes.
Here are a couple of videos I took -
The New Rivermaya
Pupil (Ely Buendia singing "Sala")
Other videos
Cueshe - Ulan
Itchyworms - Beer
Kyla - Love Will Lead You Back
Mark Bautista - Break it to Me Gently
Ronnie Liang - Ngiti
Yeng Constantino - Hawak Kamay (she won three awards)
Hale - Shooting Star
Miguel Escueta - Isipin
Christian Bautista and Rachelle Ann Go - Pag-ibig na Kaya
