Giving Up Jolly

It's a very sad day for me.

Remember Jolly?

We had to give her up even though we did not want to. She grew so big and we realized that we cannot give her the proper care she needs (regular walks at the very least). I haven't even been able to play with her for the longest time since I've been having daily bouts of asthma. Miguel's out during the day because of class and it really pains us to have her in a cage most of the time (she keeps uprooting my Mom's plants and ransacks everything in site).

She's now with a family friend, just down the street and we can visit her anytime. But it's not going to be the same. I'll miss hearing her play with her squeaky toy late at night. And I'll also miss hearing her thrash around her bowl (a kaldero since plastic and regular dog bowls only last 3 days with her).

I wasn't even able to hug her before she left. Mom made sure Miguel and I were not home when she was brought to the neighbor =(

Sometimes you just really need to give up someone you love so that they could be happier =(

  1. :( So sorry to hear that Aileen :( Nothing's worse than having to let go of a pet without you really wanting to. Remember yung big dogs who ran around the garden namin before? We had to let go of them rin when we moved to our new house. We could only bring with us one lab, not 2, so the others had to stay with my friend in Bulacan :(

  3. Depende syo... Some people come better if they have a new dog, others just end up comparing the old one with the new. And that's not fair for the new dog. When I lost Sheero, ganun nangyari with Shantee during the first few days na bago palang sya. Eventually though, nawala na guilty feelings of loving a new dog when you start to realize that your old dog wouldn't want you to pine away for her.

Antay ka sandali. If the new setup is too hard for you, then you might want to consider getting a hypo-allergenic dog :) Shantee is one. Though hinika ako minsan pag natutulog sya right beside my face sa pillow :P

  4. @gail oh meron palang hypo-allergenic dog. I think I'll give it some time. I asked my Mom to call the neighbor to ask how she is. Sobrang kulit kasi nun. I'll probably get some fish over the weekend para may pagka-aliwan ako.

  5. Yup, meron. Yung mga double-coated dogs like Shih Tzus, and Yorkies (though I'm not too sure about Yorkies). Yung buhok kasi nila is like a human's eh, kaya bihira sila mag-induce ng allergies :)

Good luck! I hope you and Jolly cope well with the new setup :)

  7. *hugs* our pet dog died last year because the yaya's did not feed her. T__T and nobody's left at home during the day to watch the dog.

  8. Hey, this is gonna be weird coming from me. We also have a lab like Jolly. When Temi was young, he destroyed anything in sight because our space in Manila was too small for him to run around. Now that he's with us here in Davao, he's toned down a lot because he enjoys running in our large lawn and play with the other dogs.

  10. @andrew Oh ganyan kakulit si Jolly! We have a big yard at the back of our house, but destroys everything in sight that's why she had to live in a cage. Huhu.

    @ang Huhu nga.

  11. We also had a dog that we gave away to our relatives in Pangasinan. Good for you that your dog is just houses away from your place and you can visit it anytime.

Oks lang yan, pero nakakahinayang talaga magbigay ng aso. WAAAH.

Ang cute pa naman ni Jolly.

  13. this is both a sad news and a good news. i remember seeing her as a puppy when you first posted her picture here. i even copied those photos including your second post on jolly. it's good that you gave it to a family friend, in that way you still have the chance to see or visit her.
