Beautiful Afternoon Walk

It was raining cats and dogs all day, but it stopped around 4 in the afternoon. Around six in the evening Sweetie came up to me and asked if I wanted to accompany him to the park. I hurriedly said goodbye to my manager and said I'm going out for a walk to exercise! Surprisingly he bit me goodbye immediately. I guess he was pleased to hear I was going to exercise haha.

I quickly changed to sportswear ("If you cannot perform, japorms!" - Marc Macalua, circa 2007). I have a very small selection of workout outfits so it wasn't hard to choose. Few minutes later we headed to the West Coast Park. It's only my second time to walk around the park, so Sweetie wanted to bring me to the edge of the water. Last time we only walked half-way. I completed 2 weeks of PT sessions without cancelling so I thought I'm in better shape now.

Sweetie was forced to walk slowly since I stop to catch my breath every 50 meters (may be shorter than that tbh). We made the whole round without me sitting so that's quite good. We stopped for awhile by the beach to check out the ships. Sat for about 2 minutes, but insects started chomping on our legs so we started our stroll back.

The weather was a bit cooler than usual, probably because of the rain. I loved it and I love just looking at the trees, the sky and the sea. The gigantic ships, boats and yachts were fascinating to watch. It's just simply a great feeling to be out and about. I think we're starting to feel a bit safer now because confirmed cases is averaging about 50 per day, with only 3 to 5 community cases. Sweetie even allowed me to go to Spotlight tomorrow after my doctor's appointment! Yaaaas!

Someday I hope when I go back home we'd have a nice home near a park (farm would be ok too!). By the sea would be nice too, but I dread being near the sea during a typhoon. My "someday" plan is still fuzzy, I just know I don't want to live in a condo unit anymore. I want a right-sized house with a garden or backyard where I can plant more! I also want a hobby room. That's what I hope to have someday!

For now I content myself with where I am now. My immediate goal is to be able to go biking around the park and hopefully check out Clementi Woods Park (it's an uphill park so it's gonna be hard!). We have a company holiday tomorrow, ahhh it'll be good to have some rest after a very busy week.

A Walk in the Park

The weekend is almost over. We're just chilling at home today since my allergies are going crazy again. I can't wait for my medical grade air purifier to arrive!

Thought I'd share a video of our afternoon stroll yesterday. It was a good walk and I finally reached my minimum step target after a long time.

I'm hoping to also visit Clementi Park. It's the park I see from my balcony everyday. It's a bit hilly though so I need to do a work up to survive the trail. The haze is really a bummer, I can't even hang out with my plants now huhu.

Went to the Park for the First Time

We've been wanting to visit the park since we moved to the West Coast area. We're sandwiched between two parks, but to be honest we haven't explored our area yet. We just go out when it's really essential.

It's been a very stressful week and today the medical frontliners in the Philippines spoke up about the dire situation of the healthcare system. It really pains me to see my country in that situation and I cannot help but worry for my family and friends. So getting fresh air was a good idea.

Since the haze is a bit elevated Sweetie suggested I wear an N95 mask. The mast I have has a valve and my doctor-friend advised me to be careful about using masks with valves. I tried to put a surgical mask on top of the N95 mask, but I couldn't breathe properly so I just stuck with the N95 mask. I always take a lot of precautions, but I can't hibernate forever.

We walked slowly through the park, playing Pokemon Go at the same time. The kites flying fascinated me. It's one of my favorite things to do. I told Sweetie if we could find walis tingting here I could actually make a kite from that. My Dad taught me how and the last time I made one was for Miggy when he was growing up. The kites they have here are pretty posh! And huge! Maybe when I'm in better shape I can make a kite for Sweetie so I can show off my kite-flying skills hahaha.

Those dots in the sky are huge kites!

When we lived in Harbourfront area, our go-to park was Sentosa. We'd walk all the way to the beach. It was one of my favorite things to do. Our new park also has the beach at the end, but we left going to that area for another day. The huge grassy area and the play areas was enough for us. And oh watch out for the vlog I'll be making about this day. We had a surprise visit from someone in the park.

Our stroll lasted almost two hours. We thought of buying a drink at McDonald's (the only store in the park), but decided against it. The line was too long, it was just not worth the risk. Got home, ate leftovers and we're just chilling now.

I love 3-day weekends. What about you? What fun stuff have you been doing this weekend?
