Get Some Free Krispy Kreme Doughnuts for Mom

We were all so busy because of the elections and a number of you probably missed doing something special for your Mom (I almost did). I only managed to deliver my Mom our gift, I know though that she would've loved to sample Krispy Kreme's Mango Kreme Cake (my Mom is bananas over mango, pun intended).

Hopefully when my crazy schedule eases up I hope I can spend a lazy afternoon with my Mom with some Mango Kreme Chiller. Correction, I'll make the time when I get back from Cebu.

Well here's a chance to get your Mom a dozen doughnuts! Just do the following:

1. Add Chloe, the official Krispy Kreme girl on Facebook (just search for "Chloe Krispy Kreme").
2. Email Chloe a photo of you and your Mom having a magical moment with a brief description (2-3 sentences) on why it's magical. When emailing Chloe (hotlightgirl.chloe@gmail.com) please include the following:

Name:
Facebook name:
Age:
Blog where you saw the promo: An Apple a Day (http://aileenapolo.blogspot.com)
Date of submission:

I will be posting your photo here in my blog once Chloe sends it. The best photo will get a dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts! There will be 2 winners: (1) May 17-21, 2010 and (2) May 24-28. If you win you can claim your doughnuts from May 24-31, 2010.

Here's my magical moment with my Mom:

One of the most important moments in our life is our wedding day. The moment you wear your wedding gown is a rite of passage which becomes complete when your Mom helps you wear your gown. This is a magical moment that you should pass through with your Mom.

===============
Update: Here are the photos from those who joined the promo. Enjoy!

May 24, Update: Sorry I haven't announced the winner for week 1 yet. Please bear with me, I am currently in the Visayas Region. Please tell your friends to submit their entries for week 2!

========
I guess I'm a donut person even though my tonsils usually protest about the barrage of sugar. When I was a kid we usually had home-made donuts for merienda. Remember those mixes you could just buy from the grocery? I usually helped in mixing the batter and then my Tita would fry it and I'd have the time of my life sprinkling sugar on the donut. Nomnomnomnom.
Nowadays all you need to do is go to a donut shop and buy. So yesterday I decided to spend my afternoon and work at Krispy Kreme. If donut-scent was available as aroma oil, incense or a candle, I'd probably buy it because it keeps me awake, alert and productive!

I was surprised to see a lot of friends at KK yesterday and if I were to join the the Krispy Kreme Fave Fan Search I'd probably share my experience about why I like hanging out at Krispy Kreme. (1) Food + free wifi gets me going and productive and (2) Meeting up with friends.

Left to Right: Yummy donuts; with Sweetie;

Yesterday was fun-filled (and I did work!) since I got to chat with a number of friends that I don't see often: Jonas and Ederic who I last saw together in Singapore a few months ago, Juned, Az, Lace, AJ, Nina, Eric the Reyna, Phoebe, Mom bloggers - Jane, Teacher Julie and Noemi.

Happy 6 dozen years Krispy Kreme!

Let's Talk about Donuts

Back in first grade I almost flunked a spelling test because I was one of the 100% who did not spell it right. My then English teacher was so giddy about it since no one spelled it right. She said it should be spelled -

D-O-U-G-H-N-U-T-S

Of course, everyone thought it was spelled donuts because of the only existing donut store back then (the one with the orange and pink logo).

I love donuts and I don't know anybody who doesn't like it. It was my sister who first brought home a box of honey-dipped flavored donuts when I was a kid. Eventually I ventured out and liked the bavarian flavor and later on it was my officemate, Fe, who influenced me to love choco-butternut. Uhhmmmm.

And then the donut revolution happened! There are now more donut brands, but there's one that I've been waiting to open here because of their almond topped donut. Hopefully soooooon!

I'm very picky though with the flavor I eat because my tonsils are very sensitive. One wrong bite and it could send me to tonsilitis hell. Anyway, I received a boxful of classic peanut butter & stripes from Krispy Kreme the other day. The smell was heavenly. And what great timing! I had tonsilitis! So you can just imagine my frustration.

The new flavor is for Father's Day and I ended up thinking about it the whole afternoon. I debated with myself whether or not I should taste it since the doctor repeatedly told me not to eat any sweets.

My Plurk friends know I lost coz I gave in and sampled a small piece. I was in donut heaven. I found a new favorite! The instant karma I got after eating was worth the donut. You absolutely have to try it!

Thanks KK!
