Anakin's Second Gotcha Day!

Yesterday, we celebrated Anakin's Second Gotcha Day! He was a surprise since at that time the only kitten around was Bailey Boo. We suspected that Grey brought him in. We originally planned to have him adopted since we had at least 10 cats and kittens. Luckily, the adopter backed out.

The kitten was darker than the rest of the brood. I decided to name him Anakin since he reminded me of Darth Vadar, haha. He's the complete opposite of the character though since he's very vocal and affectionate. He originally looked like a rat though, but with TLC and lots of food, he grew up to be a handsome boy.

Anakin's quite a climber. I've seen him run up the neighbor's tree when he's going after a bird or a lizard. He's also very chatty and never fails to greet me by rubbing my legs when I go out to water the plants. I'm actually glad he came to us since he became Bailey's playmate and bestie. At 2 years old, they still play like they're kittens.

To our bunso, Anakin, thank you for coming into our lives. You certainly changed the force in the cat-fam and you made Meredith a full time mom. She's very fond of you and Bailey. We love you to Dagobah and back!

Got Little Grey and August Adopted

We were all so stressed when Little Grey gave birth. She just stayed even though the 8 bonded cats didn't like her, so it was difficult to manage all of them. The cats were very stressed as well. We decided to find Little Grey and kitten/s adopted after she gave birth and weaned them away.

Little Grey had 3 kittens. Only one made it. We named him Augusten. He was born on August 10 and since it's my golden year, I wanted my birthday patron saint to bless him (St. Augustine). We call him August.

August and Little Grey

To be honest, it's hard to find people who'd like to adopt. You also have to be careful since there are those who "adopt" because they have bad motives. We had cared for Little Grey and August for a few months and we want them to have a better life. We couldn't let them stay because the other cats didn't want to accept them in their community.

Luckily, my Tito and Tita who moved back here love cats. They also rescued strays when they were abroad. They managed to get all their cats adopted and already rescued a kitten. I asked them if they could possibly adopt both. They will take in August.

August is almost two months old now and we brought him to the vet to check if he's ready for adoption. The vet said he's very independent already since he eats both wet and dry food. I caught Little Grey pushing him away too whenever he wanted to nurse. He's also been a little rascal, wreaking havoc everyday.

Little Grey has also been spayed and will be adopted by Manong Lito. He said he's a cat whisperer and should be able to domestic Little Grey in no time. Little Grey is a sweet cat. She deserves the love of a proper fur pawmily. It's the best we can do for them at this point.

August is a Month Old Now

Little Grey gave birth to three kittens a month ago. Two tabbies and a calico. Unfortunately, the second tabby was born stillborn and the calico didn't make it.

It's been difficult to manage Little Grey. She's a feral cat that decided to live on our property. I suspect though she's Bailey's sister, but she grew up elsewhere. Our 8 cats have been stressed because of her, so we've been trying our best to keep them apart.

We found a nook where both mama and kitten can stay undisturbed. It's where Kaley brought her four kittens before (including Bailey and Little Grey). The kitten has so far been able to escape daily.

Here's a video of them made by Sweetie: https://youtu.be/1qy2MGPrhEQ?si=8iOLn178x4ovLqX-

We can't possibly keep both of them since we already have 8 cats. Luckily, my Tito will adopt August. The kitten will probably be ready next month. We just need to find someone who can adopt Little Grey. If you're looking to adopt a tabby with beautiful green eyes, let me know!

Braved the Stairs

I managed to brave the stairs after spending a whole day upstairs. I slept the whole day and just felt I needed to rest more. Six nights at the hospital and then falling down the stairs was just too much for my fragile body. The good news is my surgery got postponed. Pulmo rehab is also on hold until I'm better.

I'm pushing myself to move hourly to make sure the bruises don't develop into scary blood clots! I'm on blood thinners, but that will only work with movement and lots of fluids. I don't want to have another PE. The boys are watching me like a hawk to make sure I don't have another mishap, hehe.

My motivation to conquer the stairs today was to see Little Grey and August the kitten. There were originally two kittens, August and Ten. They were born on August 10. Their name was supposed to be Marvin Augusten, hehe. Little Grey lost the calico kitten, huhu, so there's just the tabby one. It's complete name will still be Marvin Augusten and I'm calling it August for now.

August's 10th day

Little Grey finally put the kitten in the nest we prepared for her in the pocket garden. They are well protected from the rain and won't be bothered by other cats. The kitten will also be protected from other possible predators and can quietly grow up here. The boys are preparing another nest in case Little Grey wants to move again. In a few weeks we'll bring both of them to the vet.

As for my leg, I'm following doctors orders to use warm compress to increase blood flow. My hematologist also told me to eat iron rich food so I can produce more RBC. That will also help break up any clots.

Missing my other cats and my plants. I hope I'll be more mobile soon!

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! A Birth!

19 Days to 50

We felt Little Grey was due anytime. We put boxes around the house for her to comfortably give birth in. She chose the same spot Brimsley delivered Mando and Grogu.

Miggy discovered Little Grey and kitten while he was watering the plants. She probably gave birth between 5:30-6:00 pm. We immediately checked on Little Grey. She was grooming the kitten. The kitten gave a loud meow while we were checking if they were okay.

As of writing, there's only one kitten for now. We'll leave food and water for Little Grey and hope she moves to a safer space. We'll make some broth for her too so she can hydrated with nutrients.

Should we name the kitten Marvin Augusten?

Look Who's Just Like Grey

We got to spend more time with the cats the past two days since it's not raining as much. We noticed Eevee has been spending more time in the garage too. Sometimes Mando shows up to explore too (she's the most introverted among our pawmily).

Sweetie noticed Eevee sitting like a loaf. His father, Grey, used to sit like that a lot too whenever he hung out in the garage. I took a photo to compare the two and couldn't help but realize how Eevee is just like his Papa Grey.

No pets. No scratches. Stay at least a foot away. They both would give slow blinks, but that's the most affection they'll give. Before Grey went on his adventure he gave a lot of slow blinks. I even thought he'd allow me to pet him.

It's been 9 months since Grey left. We'd like to think he's just on an adventure and will show up one day. He left his family with us and Eevee is just like him. I'm still hoping he'd give in like his twin, Pikachu. She's been allowing us to pet her and she rubs on my leg to greet me. So sweet.

Have a blessed Sunday everyone!

Grogu is Home!

After six long weeks at the vet, Grogu is home! His wound was deep and long, so it took a long time to heal.

He meowed like crazy from the vet and during the drive home. He quieted down once we released him in the backyard. He took tentative steps first and smelled everything. His twin, Mando Laura, watched him from behind the palm tree.

Miggy followed Grogu around to make sure he'd adjust properly. Luckily, the whole pawmily welcomed him back with open arms. He slept in his usual space. We were afraid he might run away since he's still an outdoor cat, but after a short trip outside he soon came back.

We noticed that Grogu is more affectionate now. He was exposed to more people while at the vet, so we're getting extra leg rubs from him and Anakin all day.

I'm really happy he's home now! There's still a small part of his wound that's still healing, but it's more manageable now. We'll bust out the cat condo soon!

Anakin's First Year Clip Compilation

I finally managed to sit down and make Anakin's first year clip compilation. We think it was Grey who brought him in and at that time he was probably about 2 months old. Grey was probably his father and he probably thought he'd survive if he lived with us.

Surprisingly, Anakin never left. He became fast friends with Bailey. Meredith, who lost her babies due to dystocia, immediately took care of Anakin. She took care of cleaning him and teaching him the ropes of how to be a cat. I think Anakin gave her peace since she couldn't have kittens anymore. She still babies Anakin until now.

Here's the video:
https://youtu.be/R8ULzx1CZ7g?si=Sp8mbamkmOMilAMC

Anakin brought us a lot of joy. He's the most affectionate among all our fur babies. We've never seen him fight with anyone, but he's very protective and hangs out with me whenever I putter around the garden.

Ahh, I can't imagine not having Anakin around. I named him Anakin because he was really dark when we first saw him. Eventually, his beautiful markings started to show. No idea who his mother is and some have said he probably has some breeded blood. Whatever it is he is well loved and part of our pawmily.

Anakin's First Gotcha Day

Three hundred sixty six days ago, we found a black kitten traipsing around our garage. It noisily demanded us to feed it.

Our first reaction was to find someone to adopt it, but the kitten proved to be the most affectionate. Luckily, no one volunteered to adopt him. I named him Anakin because of his color.

From the first time we saw him, he never left. We suspect it was Grey who brought him to us. By then, Bailey also decided not to go with his Mama Kaley whenever she left. Anakin and Bailey became fast friends. They became besties and would play all day.

We made sure Anakin was vaccinated and neutered. He's always in the mood to play and would be very affectionate during meal time. We always have a hard time reeling him in whenever we need to leave. He never wants us to go out, haha.

He made us worry one time when his eye was accidentally scratched by Bailey. We immediately brought him to the vet. Good thing the wound didn't affect his eyesight and it eventually recovered after a month of daily eye drops.

Anakin, the youngest of our pawmily. Happy first Gotcha day with us. We love you forever!

My Boys

Our boys have been taking turns patrolling the front gate. A delivery rider even said, "Gwardya ah," referring to Bailey who was hanging out on the wall beside the pedestrian gate. They take turns and sometimes there's two who watch over the gate.

In the afternoons, they also take turns watching me water the plants. This afternoon it was Eevee who hang out while I was busy gardening. Bailey and Anakin passed by too. The girls check on me, but they leave whenever I'm waving the hose around.

I haven't gone out for a few weeks now, so my life has been about cats, gardening and sorting Mom's stuff. I haven't even quilted. My doctors said I shouldn't get sick, so limiting outings for now. My kitty cats have been keepinge company whenever I go out to do gardening. Love them so much!

Is Grey Back?

It's been five months since we last saw Grey. He is the first cat who adopted us. He came with the house when we moved in, so he became part of the family. He was probably still a kitten when we discovered him and from him our cat brood grew to 8.

Well, Grey went on an adventure and we haven't seen him since October last year. I've been telling the cats to tell him to come home.

In the past two weeks, a scraggly kitten who looks like Grey has been visiting. It even has Grey's tail. The tabbies haven't been minding it, but Meredith has been chasing it away. I would just say hello to the kitten whenever it visits.

I was able to take a closer look at the kitten today. It hung around while I was re-potting some of Mom's plants. I really believe he/she is one of Grey's kids. It may even be one of Kaley's. We have no way of confirming, but what we can do is bring it to the vet when we can.

I've been pining for Grey, so maybe he sent us this kitten. :)

Surprising Cats

Have you ever seen your cat drop its jaw and have eyes as big as saucers? Both Sweetie and I did today.

I was seated on my desk when Sweetie said a cat was about to pass by behind me. I parted the curtain and saw Grogu beside the plant box. I immediately opened the door and said hello. He was so surprised to see me come out from a place where I usually don't appear. His eyes were so big and his jaw dropped. He was so surprised, hahaha.

We surprised Pikachu and Grogu today, haha.

The same thing happened this morning when Sweetie saw Pikachu resting on the firewall. He opened the window to say hello and she was so shocked to see him. I guess our cats are so used to seeing us in specific areas, they get surprised when we suddenly appear in other areas of the house.

I played with the cats and gave them some treats when I stepped out. It's been awhile since I played with them in that area. They were still kittens the last time I played with them in the side garden. We usually play in the garage or the pocket garden upstairs. I had been avoiding the area because of the ongoing construction beside us. Now that most of their work is done, it's safer for me to visit them again in the area.

Thank God and the cat distribution system for sending us our babies.

Bailey Boo's Birthday

Bailey Boo's mother, Mama Kaley Boo used to visit our home everyday. She did this for two years. We already knew her cycle. She was pregnant every few months and we had an inkling when she'd give birth. We didn't know though where she'd give birth and we never saw her kittens, until she gave birth to Bailey's litter.

I marked it on the calendar when she disappeared to give birth. She would usually be gone for a day and then come back the next day. It was March 4 when she gave birth to a new litter. We were surprised though when she brought all 4 kittens to our home after about 2 weeks. Bailey was actually the runt and he was the one who never interacted with us.

Unfortunately, a few weeks later Kaley Boo moved them somewhere else. A new house was being constructed beside us and it got noisy. Kaley was also probably annoyed that we would play with the kittens when she was away. She never got mad at us, but probably thought it would be safer to bring the kittens somewhere else.

More than a month later, Kaley started bringing one kitten to our home. It was a small scraggly thing and I recognized it to be the runt of the litter. Since we didn't know the gender of the kitten, we named it Bailey. After eating, Kaley would usually bite its neck and bring it back to their other home. We started feeding Bailey too and he eventually became too heavy for Kaley to carry. He would also hide from Kaley when it was time to leave. Bailey decided to live with us.

Two weeks later, a scraggly black kitten appeared in our garage. We think Grey brought him in while we were asleep. It was a cute little kitten and because of it's color we named it Anakin. Turned out it was a boy and became Bailey's best friend. They played to no end and grew up together and did all the vet stuff together too. Since Kaley only visited twice a day to eat, Meredith took over mothering both kittens.

Bailey was very shy when he was little. He eventually became more engaging and accepted scratches. I used to be able to carry him, but he's much heavier now and doesn't like being carried. His exercise includes wrestling with Anakin everyday and he lines up for scratches when Anakin's done rubbing our legs (haha). Bailey is our gentle, sweet boy and I cannot imagine life without him.

Happy, happy birthday my love!

Spent Time with the Cats

I'm still in the middle of sorting my Mom's things, but I made sure to spent some time with the cats today since I missed them.

I carried Anakin for awhile and was surprised how heavy he is already. The vet said he was 3.5 kg last month. He's probably well over 4 kg now even though he's so active. I bet Bailey Boo is a bit heavier. He was just running around so much I couldn't catch him.

I slowed down a bit with sorting to organize the fabric and scraps I removed from boxes. Everything will need to be washed before it's used, but I thought I'd organize them first. I placed the bigger ones on comic book boards so I could better appreciate what's available for use.

Still loads to do! Have a great day everyone!

Afternoon with My Loves

Slowed down today since I have pulmo rehab tomorrow. The cats always follow me around whenever I water the plants. We play while I go back and forth to the rain water drum.

Our cats have different personalities. Grogu is the most affectionate among our cats. He moves around a lot and the hardest to photograph. He was just chilling when I tried to take his photo, but his head still kept moving.

Eevee, Grogu's brother from Brimsley's second litter, is Grogu's opposite. He is very shy and skittish. We rarely get to pet him. Lately though he's been hanging out in the garage with the whole gang.

Bailey and Anakin were zooming around and it's hard to make them stay put when they're playing. Brimsley was quietly watching them (aka judging them for being so malikot). She eventually went on stealth mode beside a plant. She doesn't like it when the kids get rowdy, haha.

The cats and kittens eventually settled when they were given their dinner. Usually they ignore us and get busy grooming when they are full. That's usually our sign that we've completed our duty and it's time for us to go in.

What I love about my daily cat time is the cooler weather we're enjoying now. I'm excited for playtime again tomorrow!
