Keyboard Quilt for My Piano

I finished this project a few weeks ago. I just didn't have time to take photos, haha.

It's a redundant keyboard quilt for my piano. I missed using my rainbow colored fabric, so that's what I used to make a colorful piece.

It was tedious to make, but I wanted to try making it for about 5 years now. At least I tried :)

Piano Top Quilt Cover Progress

I've been working on this project a few times a week when I have time. I did a big push the past few days.

It's now 70+ inches of rainbow piano keys. I made it that way so it can waterfall on the sides.

I wrangled with it last night. Sandwiched it with batting and pinned it. I'll work on my favorite part this week. Yay!

Vintage Toy Pianos

Mom thought I showed some promise when I played with the toy piano. She enrolled me in piano lessons and my caucasian teacher came once a week. My first recital piece was "Old MacDonald (had a farm...)".

My teacher though I guess left, so he was replaced by my Ninang's cousin. She was very strict and would hit my fingers if I made a mistake. Of course, I quit.

It took almost a decade to get over my trauma. In met Ate Edith and I progressed really well. My recital pieces were "Joy of a Man's Desiring" and "Canon in D". I even had a trio. Ahh, those were the peak days of my musical era. I eventually got busy and focused on Miggy and my studies.

Now, I leave the piano playing to Sweetie. My big piano is with me, but badly needs tuning. :)

February Project: Quilted Piano Cover

I only have one top cover for my piano and it's Christmas themed. I got distracted and wasn't able to make one last year.

My first project for the year would be a new cover for the top of my piano. I'm going to make it funnily redundant and use piano keys for the design, haha.

I've started making measurements and should start cutting fabric this week. I'm still deciding whether I'll just do the top like last time or make a bigger one to cover the sides and back.

It's that dilly dallying that's delaying the project, haha. I answer to myself and it will get going when I'm done with my other stuff.

Happy creative Tuesday everyone!

Flashback Friday: Recital!

Sweetie found a huge box of trophies in my childhood home. Majority out of it isn't mine since I'm not into sports. If I remember correctly, I only had one trophy. It's from being part of the top ten students of Ate Edith. I'm most probably the 10th, hahaha.

My other "accolades" are academic in nature, mostly in the form of medals. I found them a few months ago and it's somewhere in a box. So my piano trophy is special since afaik it's the only one, haha. Anyway, we're still checking if I have anymore (probably none!).

The recital was nerve wracking. I made a mistake with my piece and kept repeating a huge part until I remembered how to get out of it, haha. It was held at the St. Cecilia's Hall at St. Scholastica's College (my alma mater) and that contributed to my nerves!

Recital day with Mom

I didn't want to perform again in a crowd, so I eventually stopped my lessons. Ate Edith though found another place for me to perform, at church. I would sometimes play the organ for mass and sometimes for kasalang bayan

I still have my pieces and I intend to get back to playing the piano again. Restoration of my piano was stalled though. The person doing it didn't finish tuning the piano and had all sorts of excuses and never came back. Oh well.
