Re-potted Mom's Aglaonema-Petunia Plant Pot

I scheduled to re-pot another one of the plants Mom gave me over a year ago. She combined (again) two plants in one pot, pink aglaonema and petunia. The plants have grown a lot and badly needed to be re-potted.

4 plants in a small pot.

I was surprised (again) to find out that there were 3 aglaonemas and a very, very long petunia. I bought two big pots because I thought there were only two plants, haha. Luckily, I was able to separate the four plants cleanly. I potted the aglaonemas in 3 separate pots, small, medium and large.

They look so pretty in their new pots :)

Good thing I bought a taller pot. The petunia had grown very long. I think it was looking for sunlight and trying to get away from the aglaonema. The tall pot I bought was perfect for the petunia. I just put a bamboo stick in the pot to hold it up. Now that it's been separated from the aglaonema, I can transfer it to a place where it can get better sunlight.

I super love this set of plants Mom gave me. I don't mind having more aglaonema plants (also known as Chinese evergreen). I noticed there are other plants with pink streaks in the nursery yesterday. I'll check Mom's other plants first before I buy anything. I think it will be nice to have a row of variegated plants that have pink streaks in them.

The petunia produces flowers often :)

Now that I finished the two pots I've been scared to re-pot, I'll work on the succulents next. I also need to tend to the orchids since I think I may have over-watered them (huhu). Hopefully I could still save them.

Happy gardening everyone.

The Secret to Long Life

Happy to share that we're doing well. Sweetie is still in isolation, but so far his antigen tests have been negative. To be sure he'll stay one more night in isolation and test again tomorrow. He also needs to rest so this forced rest will be good for him. I've been out of commission so he's been my superman. The new medication has helped a lot and I think I'm getting better.

Sweetie checking his step count.

I'm breathing better now so I'm working on upping my stamina. I'm doing this through my happy exercise -- gardening! It's been a good exercise because I'm forced to squat and do a lot of arm movements. Met a few caterpillars though in the last few days. They probably came from the trees from the property beside us. I so far haven't seen a lot, but I sprayed some neem oil to be sure.

It was on the pot I was about to grab! Good thing I saw it before I could touch it.
Would have been a gazillion times itchy!

I had Miggy transfer my plants in pots from the pocket garden to the back garden. They were looking so sad already because of the dry-wet-dry weather cycle. Trimmed a lot of dead leaves the past few days and hope they will recover. I'm happy though that the plants my Mom gave us are all still alive! They probably still have her magic in time that's why they're going strong.

I planted some seeds last week and some have started to sprout. Yay! I think it's a bad time though to plant seeds since it's been raining off and on. I haven't been able to harvest anything yet since I've been a bad home gardener. Well, I think my plant babies appreciate the renewed attention because I finally saw the rope tomato forming flowers! I hope though the rain doesn't ruin them.

Of course, Mom was in the garden this afternoon.

Gardening has been a good way to heal and center myself. I was in a really bad place after the elections. The quiet of working with nature really has a different kind of magic. It really helps calm and heal. It's the reason why my Mom is healthy and strong at 86. Caring for other living things other than yourself I think is the secret to long life.

Alien!

There's an alien plant in my lettuce pot! The plant just grew overnight in the big wave lettuce pot. I've been trying to identify it using Google Lens, but it's been giving different results everyday. I guess I'll wait a few more days so I could identify it better.

Banana? Curry? Moringa? Tamarind?
Hopefully not an invasive plant.

Just like other aliens in my life, I have to decide whether I should keep it in the same pot, separate it or discard it. This will probably depend on what kind of plant it is. Whether it's ornamental or a veggie and hopefully not an invasive plant. My Mom would probably not think twice and just pull it out, haha. I've been a bit bored the past few days since I've been forced to rest, so forgive me for overthinking this.

A Mom-friend pinged me yesterday to ask how I was doing. She reminded me to just chill and let the boys do heavy stuff. I told her I miss our cleaner in SG who came in once a week to clean for us. She said I could probably do it again once things get better. Keep your home happy not clean. That advise made me smile because I'm okay with the house being messy, but I get anxious when it becomes dusty.  Anyway, she was yesterday's guardian angel. Thank you Tita Dine :)

I probably need to do better at staying put. Just chilling is an alien concept to me. Whenever I watch TV, I'm usually multi-tasking. I normally sew. Sweetie told me yesterday to just rest while watching TV. It was hard and to calm myself down I put my planner on my lap. I just made a list of things I need. I eventually managed to just watch TV. With practice I'll get better at this.

Happy weekend everyone! Double mask to stay safe :)

PT Again! Yay!

I had physiotherapy today! My therapist pinged me the good news last week that they were re-opening after June 1. She asked me if I wanted to come in. The last time I had physiotherapy was on April 2.

Dreaming of swimming here soon.

To be honest, exercising at home is a huge challenge! It's just not in my system. I do mat exercises one to two times per week and I move around a lot at home. I'm like a kiti-kiti at home because I could surprisingly do three thousand steps just going around everyday. On weekends I do at least 4k because of chores, baking and cooking. I exercise so my back won't hurt again and to improve my breathing.

At my favorite shop - Spotlight!

My therapist is super challenged with taking care of me. What she asks me to do has to be a perfect balance between challenging and bearable. If I have too much I get sick immediately. Tomorrow I will have to update her whether the exercises we did today was okay. I'll have to work my way up again in the next few weeks. I hope that the pool will open soon so I can swim and strengthen my lungs more.

What about you? What do you do to keep active at home? I never saw my Mom exercise in my entire life. Her secret to keeping fit is gardening. Tending to her garden is a lot of work. There were times when she traveled she would leave her garden to me. I had to water the entire garden twice a day. I used to have a garden in a previous home. I tried doing what my Mom would do twice a day - "putter around the garden". Gardening for fifteen minutes in my balcony now makes me feel like I had two hours of physiotherapy haha. So I count that as exercise hahaha.
