There's Something in the Air

Taal Volcano has been erupting again. It had several phreatomagmatic eruptions in the past two days. The air has been different. I've been having allergies and have had to stay indoors. Unlike the 2020 eruption though, there's no ash fall. It was reported that it rained after the eruption, so that must have helped keep the ash there. I hope the families affected by the eruption are all okay and can go home soon. I pray that the Taal Volcano will quiet down soon since the businesses in the area are just picking up and recovering from the lockdowns.

On a positive note, there are happy changes happening. Mom finally got her hair cut and she even had her nails done. I hope to get my booster shot in the next few days. I got some help from a friend since I'm required to get Pfizer. Got Mom more groceries also so she can have a variety of dishes that can be cooked for her. She's been eating a lot more now and has been more energetic.

I watched the CaMaNaVa rally yesterday. It was a music extravaganza with 64 performers! I tried to stay up to finish it, but I conked out after Tanya Markova performed. I stayed up mainly to wait for my friend's band to perform. It was so cool they also observed Earth Hour. VP Leni cut her speech short for it. She wasn't really scheduled to join the rally, but she still showed up despite her very busy schedule (plus helping out for the Taal evacuees). I heard they have initiated house-to-house campaigning. This is very important to do and I mentioned this in a previous blog post.

Planning for a less busy week since I'm getting my booster shot. Sweetie was down for a few days when he had his booster shot. Hope to finish everything I need to do before my schedule. We wanted to do it earlier, but had a hard time finding a non-hospital vaccine center that offers Pfizer. Too bad the Nayong Pilipino vaccine center only offers Moderna.

Looking forward to have a better week! Enjoy the rest of your weekend guys.

Achoo!

I've been having terrible allergies the past year. I'm allergic to chicken, crabs, chocolate, Coca-cola and cockroaches! It's horrendous since I think I can live with having rashes, but I get asthma attacks whenever I eat any of those “C” food or smell roaches. I was not sickly when I was a kid so it's been hard.

A few weeks ago I was surprised when my eyes suddenly became swollen. I just thought it would go away after a few days, but it just got worse after I got back from my Cebu trip. I was in pain so I went to see a doctor.

Allergies. Again. Doc said, “Since this has occurred before, you have to start accepting the fact that you are allergic to something in the environment.” I had no choice, but just to stay indoors (with windows closed) or maybe live in a bubble until the season ends. I just hope that I won't have allergies on my wedding day. Harumph.

I jumped at the chance to attend an event about a hypoallergenic product. I had no idea what it was, but I went anyway since I thought it might help me. The product was Del's new hypoallergenic fabric softener. It's basically an anti-itch product and had Francis Magalona's very cute son as it's endorser (see his Itchy dance here).

And the reason for this very late post is because I had no idea how to blog about it. I'm still under my Mom's care and that means laundry is not one of my chores. I gave her the sample and completely forgot about it since I've been flying from one place to another in the past few weeks.

Anyway, when I got home the other day from a trip, I snuggled in bed and was surprised that my blanket and sheets smelled really good. I kept smelling it and realized that I didn't sneeze at all even though the scent was pretty strong (which is a very good sign). And so far things have been great since my eyes haven't been swollen as it was before. Not sure if it's partly because of the Del fabric softener, but it sure helped. So I guess when I have my own household soon, I will be using it too.

Chocolate vs. Coca-Cola

The other night Sweetie asked me a question, "Would you rather be allergic to Coke instead of Chocolate?"

I really had a hard time answering that question since I can't live with either (though I don't have a choice with chocolates now since I'm already allergic to it). Anyway, assuming I was not allergic to chocolates, would I rather be allergic to Coke?

Difficult question...

Hmm... hmm... hmm...

The other day I found myself looking for something to eat at SM Makati and most of the pastries I used to eat had chocolate in it. I usually also buy some brownies, donuts and some good old Cloud 9 for Miguel and I whenever I pass by a mall. And then I remembered feeling sick after drinking a glass of Chocolait a few weeks ago.

Being allergic to chocolate is for me a punishment.

And I think not being able to chug down Coke would be of equal torture.

But since chocolate is available in many different forms, I think I'd rather be allergic to Coke than chocolate.

What about you?
